私と写真
セレブリティの写真を撮ることが多いのですが、昔から不思議と有名人（その後有名になった人）と縁があります。
大学卒業後、バイトで働きに行った先は、あのソフトバンクでした。まだ社員は２人で１０畳位のオフィスででした。孫さんと意気投合した私は３人目の社員になり、社員4名が100名を越すくらいになるまで、ほとんど寝ずに働きました。
その間、まだ、一般的には無名だったビル・ゲイツ氏にも会いました。
アメリカに渡り、仕事で、元国務長官のヘンリー・キッシンジャー氏や、チューリング賞受賞者でC言語開発のデニス・リッチー氏のポートレートを撮ることができました。アメリカ人でもなかなか会うことさえできない人たちと短期間のうちに会うことができました。
帰国後も、様々な雑誌でセレブリティを撮り続けていますが、私にとっては、写真を撮るよりは、会って話しをしたりすることの方が楽しみになりました。
一般の方からのご依頼でプロフィール写真を撮るときもそうです。
とにかく、いろんな方々に会えるというのが楽しみで、この仕事を続けています。
祖父は昭和初期、中国大陸、青島で商売をしていましたが、ローライコードで当時の中国の街角の様子やポートレートを撮っていました。有力者に面識があり、ラストエンペラー溥儀のポートレートも残っています。
父親も、暗室を持ち、引き伸ばし機や現像液まで自作して写真を楽しんでいました。
そういう環境だったので、写真の遺伝子が私にインプットされていたのかもしれません。
写真大学には進学しませんでしたが、世の中に出て、いざ職業を選択することになったら、紆余曲折はありましたが、自然とこの道を選んでいました。
楽しいことは苦にならないと言います。客観的に見たら苦労したかもしれませんが、私には苦労したという自覚はありません。それだけ、この道が合っていたのかもしれません。
すでに半世紀以上生きていますが、これまで写真で食べてこれたことを感謝しています。そろそろ何か世の中にお返しできたらと考えています。

Career
In 1954 I was born in Kumamoto.
In 1973 I came up to Tokyo .
After graduating Keio University, I worked as a staff of Computer Company.
After coming out of Computer Company I began working as a free-lance technical writer and learning professional photo techinic worikin as a assistante photographer.
In 1988 I came up to NYC with my Portfolio.and opened my exhibition at SOHO Photo Gallery. I also began working as a professhional photographer.
The first assignment in NYC is to take portrait of Henry Kissnger in his office on Lexington Ave.
After expiring my work visa, I came back to Tokyo and opened Hiroyuki Ide Photography Office.
In 1991I started my career of photography in Tokyo again.
My grand father was woriking as a cotton trader in China before World War2.He was crazy about taking pictures. He would walk aroud the street of Tsingtao taking photograph of landscape, building and people with Rollei Cord. After his death I foud out the portrait of Last Emperor of Manchuria in his album collection(He told me that he had had some connection with the Japanese Army and Emperor).
My father also was crazy about taking pictures.
His camera was not Rolie Cord but Ricoh Flex because People in Japan was not so rich to buy Rollie Cord (RicohFlex was pricy!).
At that time no one can get photo enlarger and chemicals and paper.
But He made them by himself and took many landscape and pictures of me.
So naturally I became interested in Photography
.
Though my major in university was not Photography.
I naturally went into this industry .
Photography is the gene which connect my grandfather and my father and me.
